Uploading your Rive file

Get your Rive file ready and connect inputs to bring your animation to life.

With your data ready, it's time to bring your Rive animation to life using Smart Inputs and user controls.

Upload and set up your Rive file

  1. Go to the Animations tab.

  2. Click "Upload a Rive file".

  3. Give your file a clear name and click Next.

Select artboard and state machine

  1. In the top-right corner, select the Artboard and State Machine you want to use.

  2. Scroll down to access the Node Editor.

Create smart inputs

  1. In the Node Editor, create a Smart Input to connect your previously created data.

  2. Give it a name (e.g., teamName, player1, etc.) and press Enter.

Smart Inputs are linked to your data resources and will automatically update your animation in real time.

Create user inputs

  1. Add two User Inputs to control your animation transitions:

    • One for triggering the in animation

    • One for triggering the out animation

  2. Give each input a name like Play In and Play Out.

Connect inputs to your animation

  1. Drag lines from the Smart Inputs to the appropriate nodes or properties in your Rive view models or controllers.

  2. Do the same for your User Inputs.

Finalize the detup

  1. Click Next.

  2. Click Save to finish the setup.

Your Rive animation is now connected to dynamic data and ready for live control!
